Nordhoff teacher Kim Hoj initiated the Nordhoff Dance Program in 2004 with twenty student dancers. The program has grown to include seventy-five dancers ranging from novice to advanced. Due to a commitment from the school district, the program expanded in 2016 to provide equitable access for every student who wants to be a part of the NHS Dance Program.

Students in the Nordhoff Intro to Dance and Dance Technique classes are introduced to hip-hop, contemporary, ballet, tap, jazz, modern, lyrical dance and ethnic dance. In addition, student dancers now have the opportunity to take Choreography Honors to help cultivate student's choreographic skills. Residencies and intensives with guest artists have included Broadway veteran Will Szobody, Nordhoff Dance alumna Gianna Burright, and LIneage Dance among others.

In turn, the Ojai community has been enthusiastically receptive to Nordhoff Dance Program's creative work to bring dance to the children of Ojai. Attendance at Nordhoff’s Fall and Spring Dance concerts has grown quickly since the program began in the 2004-05 school year. Nordhoff dance students perform to sold-out, standing room only concerts. Dance concerts showcase a wide variety of work including professional and student choreography.

The Nordhoff Dance Program has a working relationship with Nannette Brodie Dance Theatre as well as with Heidi Duckler Dance Theater. Nordhoff dance students travel annually to attend the Pasadena Dance Festival and the Glendale Community College Dance Festival to connect to the greater world of dance.

Nordhoff Dance has received funding from the the City of Ojai Arts Commission, Ojai Education Foundation, Rotary Club of Ojai, Ojai Rotary West, Ojai Optimist Club and the Nordhoff Parent Association as well as sponsorships from numerous businesses and individuals who believe in ensuring quality experiences for our Nordhoff dance students.
